Priscilla weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm off Mexico's Pacific coast, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said Wednesday, once it had dipped below the threshold for a Category 1 storm .
After developing over the weekend, Priscilla was bringing high surf conditions and gusty winds to Mexico's Baja California Sur, according to the hurricane center. A tropical storm watch was in effect for Baja California Sur from Cabo San Lucas to Cabo San Lazaro.
As of Wednesday night, Priscilla had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, the hurricane center said, and was moving northwest at 8 mph. A Category 1 hurricane has sustained winds of at least 74 mph.
