PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- Barkley Regional Airport announced updates regarding the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) funding for the Essential Air Service (EAS) and Alternate EAS programs.
The DOT confirmed on October 8, it secured additional budgetary resources, ensuring uninterrupted air service through at least November 2, 2025. This follows concerns over potential subsidy payment suspensions due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Barkley Regional Airport's service remained uninterrupted due to Contour Airlines' commitment to continue operations. The airport expressed gratitude for the DOT's efforts in securing the necessary funds.
