ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - One of the Star City’s most iconic landmarks might soon be up for sale. Virginia Tech is exploring the idea of selling Hotel Roanoke , a property with more than 140 years of history.

Built originally as a small hotel with fewer than three dozen rooms to serve railroad travelers, the historic property was later gifted to the Virginia Tech Foundation. Now, the university is discussing the possibility of putting the hotel on the market.

“What we’re doing is we’re opening up conversations with our partners, the City of Roanoke and the Virginia Tech Foundation, about the possibility, the exploration of a sale of the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center,” Owczarski said.
