COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine has issued a 90-day ban on the sale of intoxicating hemp products across Ohio, declaring a consumer state of emergency that he says is necessary to protect children from potentially dangerous, unregulated THC products.
The emergency order takes effect Tuesday, Oct. 14. It prohibits the sale and distribution of hemp-derived items that cause intoxication, products DeWine says have been marketed to minors under the guise of popular candy brands like “Stoner Patch” gummies.
“The danger to our children is clear, and I’m taking action to protect Ohio’s children,” DeWine said. "These children are vulnerable to these potent knockoff products that are on sale today across the state of Ohio."
