ALBANY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- According to a new report, if you get your health insurance through work, you'll likely see a price increase.

The total health benefit cost per employee is expected to rise 6.5% on average, the report from consulting firm Mercer said.

Why are prices rising? The report blames a combination of the price of healthcare services and the rate of utilization. Some employers won't raise premium prices, but likely will raise deductibles and copays.

Those prices are on the rise while assistance is about to expire. The Affordable Care Act's enhanced subsidies, passed in 2021, was meant to be temporary, but Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says what insurance companies charge now is unaffordable.
