BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: It’s Wednesday, October 8, but it sure felt like August 8 at times today. We do have cooler air on the way and a north wind is developing across the area. At the time of this update, temperatures were already tumbling into the 70s across northern areas. Temperatures will fall into the 50s overnight with a partly cloudy sky.

If you look to the north this evening you may catch a few shooting stars. The Draconid Meteor shower peaks this evening. However, the bright moon will impact viewing; look to the north. Up to 10 meteors per hour will be visible.

More clouds will be in the mix Thursday as an upper-level disturbance crosses the area. This will bring a chance for an isolated shower, with highs in the 70s. Temperatures will tumble back in
