BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The government shutdown is now in its second week, and federal workers around the country are awaiting a decision on what will happen with their pay.

Furloughed federal government employees in North Dakota — as well as members of the U.S. Armed Forces stationed in North Dakota — will be receiving assistance in the form of a short-term, low-interest loan program, the state's Industrial Commission announced today.

The Furloughed Federal Employee Relief Program (FFERP), administered by Bank of North Dakota (BND), will provide loans to eligible individuals at a 2% interest rate for up to three months. This is intended to cover the base net pay of furloughed employees.
