Purdue University Fort Wayne students registering for the spring semester will have access to an artificial intelligence-powered tool that will help streamline their path to graduation, officials announced Wednesday.

PFW is rolling out the Smart Plan degree platform, which will help students choose the courses necessary to earn a degree, when the early registration window for the spring and summer terms opens Oct. 27, according to a news release. The assistance will be offered in 17 degree programs.

The AI program will help with "choosing the classes needed to stay on track and on budget," the release said. More than 780 students will be able to use the new platform during the first phase of its multiyear rollout.
