Authorities say a Court Service Officer was injured in a dog attack in Wasilla earlier this week.

On Monday, October 6th, a Court Service Officer went to a Wasilla residence to serve a criminal summons. During the visit, three large dogs escaped a fenced area and attacked the officer.

The officer attempted to defend himself with OC spray, but the dogs continued their attack. He then discharged his firearm, seriously injuring one of the dogs.

The officer was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The injured dog was taken to a veterinary clinic and had to be euthanized.

Mat-Su Borough Animal Care & Regulation is now investigating the incident.
