The Albuquerque Police Department's fatal crash unit is currently investigating a fatal vehicle crash involving two vehicles.

Police said that the crash occurred on the Southbound Pan American Freeway at Jefferson Street NE around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

The northbound and southbound Pan American Freeway at Jefferson Street NE and the eastbound and westbound Jefferson Bridge are currently shut down due to the crash. Motorists are asked to avoid the exits and entrances to and from Interstate 40.

Police advise that the crash did not occur on the freeway.
