SANTA CRUZ — At its meeting last Thursday evening, the city of Santa Cruz Planning Commission approved updates to the city’s policies on residential building demolitions and tenant relocation.

“This relates to a couple of housing element objectives that we need to fulfill,” said Santa Cruz Senior Planner Clara Stanger at the meeting. “The first one is 5.5b, which is related to adopting anti-displacement policies, programs or code amendments such as additional anti-retaliation policies and programs, or a revised first right of refusal to tenants displaced due to development. That is the key part of that objective for what we’re doing tonight.”
