ST. CHARLES COUNTY — A man charged with striking and killing a St. Louis police officer while speeding down Interstate 70 last year has been sentenced to seven years in prison in a previous domestic assault case.

Ramon A. Chavez-Rodriguez, 25, of St. Peters, was sentenced Sept. 29 by St. Charles County Circuit Judge Dwayne Johnson in the 2020 assault case. He had pleaded guilty in 2022 and was put on probation, which was revoked.

In St. Louis, Chavez-Rodriguez is scheduled to go on trial Oct. 27 on charges of DWI resulting in the death of a police officer, speeding and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
