Members of the East Baton Rouge Metro Council capped the price companies can charge to de-boot a vehicle parked on private property in the city-parish.
The council unanimously approved amending the city-parish booting ordinance Wednesday night, adding several other regulations like a requirement for booting companies to carry a license, insurance and have photographic evidence of the improperly parked car being booted.
"This was all born out of feedback we were getting from, frankly, people who both live here in Baton Rouge and visit in Baton Rouge," District 3 Metro Council member Rowdy Gaudet said.
Under the new ordinance — sponsored by council members Gaudet, Carolyn Coleman and Jen Racca — companies may now charge up to $150 to remove a boot. Previously, there was no cap to the fee.
