BANGOR -- A fire at a Bangor apartment building has displaced residents in multiple units. Bangor City Fire Chief Geoff Low says the call came in shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday for a fire at an apartment building located at 818 Ohio Street.
He says home repair services were ongoing in one of the apartments, including some soldering. Low says that is what started the fire.
The contractors thought they had extinguished the flames, but Low says the fire had actually progressed up through the piping and extended through all three floors of the building.
The contractors called 911.
Chief Low says things could have been worse, but they were able to contain the spread.
