ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Two drivers said their vehicles were damaged by wet concrete while driving through a construction zone on Tyrone Boulevard.
Carissa Tatum said it happened on Sept. 16 while she was driving home in the rain. She said construction crews had traffic directed into the right lane near Amped Fitness.
“At the time, I thought it was water and, you know, it was a puddle. They directed us into the right lane. So the cones were blocking the other lanes, and it splashed my car,” Tatum said.
The next day, she said she realized the splatter on her Mercedes wasn’t water. Collision centers later estimated the damage could cost up to $26,000.
“One place I took it… they told me $1,600 just for the detail. Another place said it was basically completely totaled,” Tatum said.
