Three pets have reportedly been killed by coyotes in the Anthem neighborhood in Broomfield, according to a Broomfield police post on X.

“Our hearts are with those who have lost their beloved pets,” Broomfield police said in the post.

Broomfield is home to many wild animals, including coyotes, police said in the post. Coyotes can scale 6-foot fences and will take advantage of any opportunity to prey on animals that seem vulnerable, the post said.

To avoid conflicts between pets and wild animals, police encouraged residents to keep dogs on short leashes, avoid potential den sites and areas of thick vegetation and supervise pets when they are outside. Residents should not leave pet food or water bowls outside or allow their pets to play with coyotes or foxes.
