RADCLIFF, Ky. — For the second time in eight years, federal workers across the country are caught in the middle of a showdown over a shutdown.

Radcliff borders Fort Knox, a military installation that spans parts of three Kentucky counties.

Radcliff Mayor J.J. Duvall says Fort Knox workers will go without pay as the government shutdown continues.

"Anytime there's any talk about a shutdown, (or) reduction, it directly affects us," Duvall said.

The mayor says that at a time when many are unsure when their next paychecks are coming, budgets for soldiers and families will tighten.

"So when you see those reductions or shutdowns, it directly affects those businesses, which affects our economy here in Radcliff," Duvall said.
