OXFORD, Ohio — Oxford's City Council unanimously voted to bring professional sharpshooters into the community to lower the region's deer population at their meeting Tuesday .
The council has been seeking solutions to what they called an "overpopulation problem" since January, and settled on a contract with the non-profit company White Buffalo as their best option.
According to the contract, White Buffalo's sharpshooters would be allowed to bait deer into specified locations in town, shoot them, and then deliver the meat to be processed and donated to area food banks.
We went to Oxford Wednesday, and it was a matter of minutes before we saw our first group of deer grazing across the street from Miami University's campus.
