Sincere kudos to all 16 of those formally inducted into the Luzerne County Arts & Entertainment Hall of Fame on Saturday. All Hall of Famers are just that, Hall of Famers, and there is an equality that comes with that recognition. However, in this column We want to highlight one particular inductee because, well, she was particularly singular.

The name of Florence Foster Jenkins languished in obscurity for decades, even in her hometown of Wilkes-Barre. We doubt many people knew she was not only born in the Luzerne County seat, but also buried there, in the Hollenback Cemetery.

That changed with the 2016 release of the film bearing her name, boasting the star power of Meryl Streep as Florence and Hugh Grant as her paramour St. Clair Bayfield.
