ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford Lutheran's girls golf team is preparing for a significant milestone as they return to the state tournament for the second consecutive season. This achievement was far from certain when the seniors began their journey as freshmen.

"This has definitely been a trust the process kind of four years," Madelyn Bennett, a senior golfer at Lutheran, said. "Our freshman year was a little bit rocky. We were a little bit nervous. But we said just give us a few years and we're going to make it big."

Ella Pieschel, another senior golfer, recently celebrated winning Medalist honors at conference, Regionals, and Sectionals.

"I think my putter turned on this year. I think putting has gotten a lot better for me," Pieschel said.
