HORACE — Heated conversations continued Wednesday night, Oct. 8, as the Horace City Council entered night two of special assessment hearings, hoping to move more efficiently through the process.
Three assessments were scheduled for discussion, but the first lasted more than three hours. Along with arguments from residents, council members discussed potential cost-saving scenarios that could take thousands off residents’ bills.
One option included a 30% cost share from the city with regional costs covered. A second option added coverage of some local costs by the city, though council members hesitated to set that precedent.
