KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Colleen Slemmer’s mother, May Martinez, continues to fight for justice in her daughter’s murder as one of the killers went before the board of parole.
Slemmer was killed in 1995. The investigation found both Pike and Shipp were involved and Pike threw a chunk of asphalt at Slemmer’s head killing her. Investigators also said Pike carried around a piece of Slemmer’s skull after the killing. Martinez remembers these details all too well.
“Something you don’t want to face, your daughter’s skull in front of you everyday and have it passed around like it was a piece of meat,” Martinez said.
Martinez adds her daughter was very active. She’d run marathons, roller skated every weekend and was what she called a ‘computer geek.’
