CORRIGAN, Texas — A Corrigan-Camden High School athlete is being remembered after collapsing during a football game last month.

Daniel Rivera, 15, a collapsed during a Corrigan-Camden football game and later died from a rare brain condition. His family now clings to their faith and the lasting joy he brought to their lives.

Just weeks after recovering from a knee injury, Daniel was sidelined on Sep. 26, at Bulldog Stadium when he clutched his head in pain.

“When he comes back, he sees him sitting down and already having tears coming down from his eyes and just unresponsive,” Daniel’s older brother, Angel Rivera said.

Teammates offered to help and give medicine, but he refused, insisting he was fine. Moments later, he collapsed.
