GREENSBORO, N.C. — A coastal storm is expected to develop this weekend, bringing rough weather conditions to parts of North Carolina — especially along the Outer Banks.

While this system isn’t tropical in nature, the impacts will look and feel similar to a tropical storm, with strong winds, heavy rain, and dangerous surf.

What to Expect

Low pressure to form along the Carolina coast on Saturday, strengthening through the weekend. The storm could linger through Sunday and possibly into Monday, creating several hazards for coastal communities: • Rough surf and large waves • Higher tides and beach erosion • Gusty winds • Heavy rain bands, especially along the Outer Banks

While the strongest effects will stay near the coast, some areas farther inland could still see breezy condition
