The city of Aspen will explore permanent bollards on the west side of the Hyman Avenue pedestrian mall to replace temporary barriers and improve pedestrian safety.

At the intersection of the Hyman and Mill Street pedestrian malls, Aspen City Council agreed to replace the temporary Meridian barriers — installed during busy times of the year — with 11 permanent bollards to better match the mall’s aesthetics. Council, however, decided against pursuing a major utility overhaul in the area for now.
