A cold front brought rain and cooler temperatures to Massachusetts on Wednesday, and the National Weather Service has now issued a freeze watch for much of the state beginning Thursday evening.

Temperatures could get as low as 29 degrees in some parts of Massachusetts overnight Thursday, according to the freeze watch . The cold air could kill or damage crops and other sensitive plants, and residents should take action if they want to protect them, the weather service advised.

The freeze watch is set to go into effect Thursday evening and last through Friday morning.
