At 1:55 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service released a freeze warning valid for Friday between midnight and 9 a.m. for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
The weather service adds, "Sub-freezing temperatures around 30 degrees expected."
"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation," explains the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
What to do if there is a freeze watch or warning
