SPOKANE, Wash. – The 17-year-old suspect charged in connection with the death of a jogger in the South Hill area returned to court on Wednesday.

The defense team requested to delay the trial to next year, as the suspect faces charges of vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run and DUI.

These charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 16, when the suspect struck Sarah Doxey, the Chief Operating Officer of CHAS Health, with a car. Doxey was jogging near Manito Country Club at the time.

After hitting Doxey, the driver fled the scene but was later arrested.

Judge Jeremy Schmidt of the Spokane County Superior Court granted the defense's request to delay the trail until January 2026, "with the expectation that this matter can be tried by the 26th [of January] or otherwise be resolved
