OTTAWA - Latifah Abdu and Jessica De Filippo scored as Vancouver Rise FC defeated Ottawa Rapid FC 2-0 in Desiree Scott’s regular-season home finale on Wednesday.
Scott, a longtime Canadian women’s national team midfielder who’s known as “The Destroyer,” will retire at season’s end after spending the league’s inaugural campaign with Ottawa.
Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe named Oct. 8 as Desiree Scott Day before kickoff, and the 2,906 fans at TD Place wore pink headbands in her honour.
