Niche businesses in Macomb County and around the region may have different products and approaches but they share some commonalities.

Along Gratiot Avenue just south of Utica Road, the Roseville Clock Shop continues under the leadership of the longtime owner’s children following his passing in 2023. Known for its specialty repairs and personalized service, the shop still makes local house calls.

“We’re busy,” said co-owner Paul Pin, whose father, Vin Pin, purchased the business in the early 1980s. “For 50 years, we built up a big customer base. Dad was a very fair person.”

The Pin family is among Michigan’s many longtime business owners that have weathered decades of change — from recessions and inflation to COVID-19 and the rise of online shopping.
