EDMOND − An out-of-state construction company has dropped its multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the Edmond Public Works Authority over bidding procedures for a pipeline project tied to the city's water treatment plant expansion.
Belt Construction Co. in Texarkana, Arkansas, dismissed its case "without prejudice," meaning it could be refiled.
In an unrelated case, Belt was the employer of two workers who died in June of 2022 in a workplace accident on a job contracted by the city. Investigators with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration determined that Belt failed to test oxygen levels in a confined space before the workers entered sewer works 20 feet below ground and died from lack of oxygen.
