A school has been forced to close after a primary school pupil tragically died.

The schoolgirl, 8, reportedly suffered a medical episode while at Penrhys Primary School in Wales on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the primary school at the time the reports were logged, with the girl then taken to hospital where she later died.

A spokesperson for the South Wales Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and an investigation on behalf of the coroner has now commenced.

The school is now shut to all pupils today (October 9) after the "traumatic event," WalesOnline reported.
