Centre Nicolas Roy was the most impressive of the three Toronto newcomers, one of the few Leafs able to get pucks in deep and disrupt the fast Canadiens’ breakout that was giving Toronto fits all night.

Roy had to drop down and take the fourth line assignment after Scott Laughton’s foot injury last week, with Steven Lorentz and Calle Jarnkrok, but you could see why the Leafs wanted him from the Golden Knights as their price in the Mitch Marner sign and trade deal.
