SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters were forced out by flames shooting from a large residential structure that had been subdivided into multiple apartments on the northwest side, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
Fire officials said the blaze broke out at the building located on the 1400 block of Lee Hall Street just after midnight on Thursday.
Flames were still seen coming out of the structure nearly two hours after crews first arrived. According to SAFD, the construction of the building made it easy for flames to quickly spread to multiple levels.
The stubborn blaze was difficult for crews to put out and fire officials said at one point, firefighters were forced out of the home because of how dangerous it was inside.
Firefighters finally gained control around 2:30 a.m. Authorities
