The deal between Israel and Hamas worked out in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, is expected to bring about an initial ceasefire, a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces in Gaza, a hostages-for-prisoners swap and a surge of humanitarian aid into the devastated Palestinian enclave.

The parties are expected to officially sign the agreement Thursday and Israel’s cabinet is then expected to vote to approve it in the afternoon. Then, Hamas will have 72 hours to deliver the hostages, about 20 of whom are believed to still be alive. Trump said the hostage releases could begin Monday.
