Syracuse, N.Y. ― A man blamed his brother for the fatal stabbing of a man who was attacked after a street fight in Syracuse.

On Wednesday, a jury ruled the man was equally responsible for the homicide.

Darnell K. Jones, 30, was convicted of first-degree manslaughter but found not guilty of second-degree murder. The jury reached its verdict in around 4 hours.

Jones was on trial for the murder of Willy Stridiron , 28, who was stabbed eight times in the backyard of 245 Lincoln Ave. on June 15, 2024.

The fatal encounter began as alcohol-fueled fights were breaking out on the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue, prosecutor Anthony Copani said in closing arguments Wednesday.

Stridiron was fighting another man when Jones got into the fray and “sucker punched” him, Copani said.
