A school went into 'partial lockdown' after police were called out to reports of a man with a gun, the Manchester Evening News understands.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed its officers patrolled the Shevington area, in Wigan , earlier this morning (October 9).
It's understood police were alerted after a concerned person saw a pointed item sticking out of a bag, which they believed to be a gun.
Police searched the surrounding area, but no gun was found.

The M.E.N. has seen an email sent by Shevington High School to parents and carers earlier this morning, informing them the school was 'briefly placed in partial lockdown as a precautionary measure'.
