The Hopkins County couple accused of the death of an infant have had their charges dropped.

In August, Kentucky State Troopers arrested the girl’s mother, Samantha Stagner, and her boyfriend, Dayton Mason, following an autopsy of 10-month-old Scarlette Witherspoon.

The coroner found that foul play was the cause of death.

A grand jury ruled not to issue an indictment because of a lack of evidence.

Troopers are still investigating, and they say the couple could face future charges.
