Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire after two years of war that killed over 67,000 Palestinians and displaced millions in Gaza.
The deal involves exchanging 48 Israeli hostages for 1,950 Palestinian detainees, with Israeli military withdrawal from parts of Gaza as aid flows in.
Celebrations erupted in Gaza and Tel Aviv, though much remains unclear, including Israel’s future military presence in the enclave.
TEL AVIV — After two years of devastating war that killed tens of thousands, left millions displaced and pulverized much of Gaza into an apocalyptic moonscape, Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a deal involving an exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees.
Though Israel had still not formally ratify the pact, it was expected to do so Thursday eveni
