TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Domestic violence deaths increased in the year ending June 30, 2025, to their highest levels since a victim advocacy group started tracking fatalities in the state.
The Ohio Domestic Violence Network released its annual fatality report this week. It found the number of domestic violence fatalities increased 37% year-over-year from 114 in 2023-24 to 157 in 2024-25.
40 of the cases involved murder-suicides. Guns were used in 84% of the deaths.
“This was a tremendously lethal year for domestic violence in Ohio – with both the number of fatalities from intimate partner violence and the number of fatal IPV cases rising dramatically,” said Lisa DeGeeter, senior director of policy and prevention at the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
