Imphal: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Thursday lauded the efforts of the Forest Department, conservationists, and local communities for transforming the state into a model of community-driven conservation.
The Governor, while addressing the grand finale of the 71st Wildlife Week Celebration at the City Convention Centre in Imphal, emphasised that protecting wildlife cannot rest with the government alone; it must be a shared mission involving citizens, students, and civil society.
Citing success stories like the Amur Falcon (bird) conservation initiative in Tamenglong district and the community-led protection of the Sangai, he said these examples demonstrate how people’s participation remains the strongest pillar of conservation.
