HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- On this date in 1919, the Cincinnati Reds won the team’s first ever World Series.
The Reds beat the heavily favored Chicago White Sox.
However, the victory got lost in the biggest story that came from that World Series.
It became known as the Black Sox Scandal when 8 members of the Sox, including ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson, were accused of throwing the series for money from gamblers.
