Nobel Prize in Literature 2025: Hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Swedish Academy announced on Thursday. The prestigious honour carries a cash award of 11 million Swedish crowns (approximately USD 1.2 million). Krasznahorkai, known for his dense, visionary prose and philosophical themes, was recognised “for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, in the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art,” said Mats Malm, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy.
