SALT LAKE CITY — Utah ranks as the fifth-safest state in the nation, according to WalletHub’s 2025 Safest States in America report released recently.

The personal-finance company compared all 50 states across 52 safety metrics, ranging from assaults and road fatalities to climate disaster losses and job security. Utah placed in the top 10 nationally in several categories, including disaster resilience and road safety.

Utah ranked second for the lowest per-capita loss from climate disasters, fourth for fewest fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled, and seventh for job security. It also ranked fifth for workplace safety and third for emergency preparedness.
