LEE COUNTY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - A preliminary hearing has been set for the man accused of killing a retired Auburn University veterinary professor in September.

Harold Dabney III was charged with two counts of capital murder after the body of 59-year-old Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle was discovered in a wooded area in Auburn’s Kiesel Park.

Reports indicate Schnuelle was stabbed to death, and authorities say Dabney then stole her truck.

Court documents say Dabney’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Lee County.

Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty.
