A Mexican restaurant in downtown New Orleans that has introduced many to the depth of pleasures in mezcal, and served as a low-key craft cocktail destination for those in the know, is expanding with a second location in Mid-City.

The owners of Espíritu Mezcaleria & Cocina , at 520 Capdeville St., are opening a second location in the former home of Rosella , at 139 S. Cortez St.

Haley Saucier and her partner Grant Carey are aiming to open this Espíritu Mid-City by the end of October.

Saucier says they love the look and feel of the former Rosella and intend to keep much of its design, with its coral pink walls, green accents and silver-trimmed wrap-around bar.

“We want the people who loved Rosella to feel at home here and make this their spot again,” Saucier said.
