BLAIR, Neb. (WOWT) - A 12-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was apparently hit by a pick-up truck while riding a motorized scooter.

A Blair public safety spokesperson told First Alert 6 that the crash happened at about 6 p.m. near 16th and Park streets.

According to witnesses, the boy was dragged 5-10 feet by the pick-up. The driver stopped and cooperated with first responders; they were cited for failure to yield causing injury and released.

The Blair Volunteer Fire Department took the boy to UNMC in serious condition, but say he was awake and alert.
