Several cars were apparently on fire in the parking lot of a hospital in Beverly, Massachusetts, on Thursday, sending flames and smoke into the air in a busy area.

The Beverly Fire Department said crews were working on the Beverly Hospital campus on Herrick Street. All facilities are open, but people are being asked to use caution in the area.

A pediatric practice in the area posted a photo on Facebook of the parking lot showing thick, dark gray smoke and bright orange flames.

"We are aware of the apocalyptic conditions in the parking lot," Garden City Pediatrics wrote, adding that they remained open and traffic was being diverted to avoid the affected area.
