GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed the 8th case of measles in the Upstate since September, and the 11th overall.

Officials say the new case is a child in Greenville County. It is unknown whether the new case is linked to the current outbreak in Spartanburg County.

The DPH said this case confirms there is an active community transmission of measles occurring in the Upstate. Officials said it is important for everyone to make sure they are up to date on the disease and to talk with their doctor about vaccinations.
