World War II Navy veteran recalls witnessing Japan’s surrender aboard the USS Missouri

Eighty years after the Japanese surrendered, formally ending World War II, CNN’s Stephanie Elam sat down with US Navy veteran Robert Kennedy, who served on the USS Missouri during the war. Kennedy says he was 18 when he first boarded the Missouri. He recalls what life was like on the “Mighty Mo,” witnessing the aftermath of a kamikaze attack and watching as members of the Japanese Imperial Government boarded the Missouri on September 2, 1945, to take part in the surrender ceremony. #CNN #News
